Exploring Manali: A rainy day in the hills
After 15 hr on the bus (why can’t they have sleeper busses on this route? đ ), I reached Manali around 11 am. I knew already that it would rain and was slightly concerned about the roads when leaving. Fortunately, it was only a light drizzle so there weren’t any issues. Seeing some old landslides on the way still makes me a bit nervous…

The Hills Are Calling: Trekking in Himachal Pradesh
“When are you going?” “I don’t know.”
“And where are you going?” “I don’t know.”
What a great planner I am! This time I actually didn’t know any details about my trip until 2 days before I left. All I knew was that I wanted to go trekking in Himachal Pradesh – or at least somewhere đ
In my defense, this cluelessness was not really due to my laziness but simply because a friend could not decide whether he’d tag along or not. -

Camino de Santiago from ArzĂșa to A RuĂĄ: A Pilgrim’s Diary (5)
The route on day 5 was again not very exhausting. Only 19 km till A RuĂĄ with a few hills. Lush green fields, eucalyptus forests, passing beautiful old towns and the obligatory hĂłrreos. There are a lot of pilgrims who walk the 39 km till Santiago in one go but definitely not amateur pilgrims like us!

Camino de Santiago from Melide to ArzĂșa: A Pilgrim’s Diary
The morning started with a surprise: no pain. Am I still alive? Have I lost my legs overnight and thatâs why I couldnât feel the oh-so-familiar pain in my muscles?
Nope, still there. Strange. -
Camino de Santiago â Day 0: The Arrival
It’s 5 am in the morning. Way too early… The train to the airport leaves at 7 am from Karlsruhe Central Station and as usual, my parents wanted to be there way before time. Because the Deutsche Bahn is famous to be ‘punctual’ (well, at least it usually is so early in the morning) and there’s so much traffic in Karlsruhe at 6 am in the morning… I’m more of a last minute packing and leaving kind of person, but no need to argue. Or rather: no CHANCE to argue.

Two amateur pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago
Seven years ago, my mother and I decided to walk the Camino de Santiago, ambitiously starting from Saint-Jean. We were thinking of doing it sometime after my studies but it never worked out since I left for India right away. We kept talking about it and last year I finally said “Let’s fix a date. Next year it is!”. So finally after all these years, the planning started.
